Use this guide to run a full training flight workflow in FleetDesk, from creating the student and instructor records through confirming the posted PTR entry.
This workflow assumes your aircraft and PPL training program are already configured.

Add the instructor

Open People

Select People from the sidebar.People page with the People sidebar item highlighted

Start a new person record

Enter the instructor details

Set the instructor role

Save the instructor

Add the student and PTR

Start another person record

Enter the student details

Set the student role

Create the PPL PTR

Assign the primary instructor

Save the student

Create the dual booking

Open Schedule

Select Schedule from the sidebar.People page with the Schedule sidebar item highlighted

Create a reservation

Choose the booking type

Choose the student

Open the student search, search for the student you created, and select the student.New Reservation form with the student selector highlighted

Choose the aircraft and instructor

Set the lesson time

Save the reservation

Dispatch the flight

Open the dispatch release

Open the release created for the scheduled flight.Dispatch release page with the next action highlighted

Sign as PIC

Open the release signing page, choose PIC, type the instructor name, confirm the attestation, and click Sign as PIC.Release signing page with Sign as PIC highlighted

Sign as student

Choose Student / Trainee, type the student name, confirm the attestation, and click Sign as Student / Trainee.Release signing page with Sign as Student or Trainee highlighted

Release the aircraft

Mark the aircraft landed

Enter actuals

Open the release, enter the engine times, flight times, route, briefing time, and flight hours.Dispatch release actuals form with Engine start highlighted

Mark the flight returned

Close the release

In Dispatches, open Returned - Ready to Close, then click Close release.Close release dialog with Close release highlighted

Post the PTR entry

Open PTR drafts

Select PTRs, then open the draft for the completed flight.PTR drafts page with the draft link highlighted

Review the draft

Update the PTR details

Post the draft

Confirm the PTR entry

Open the student's PTR

Open the student’s PTR record from PTRs.PTR records page with Open PTR highlighted

Confirm the flight entry

Confirm the new flight entry shows the aircraft, route, instructor, comments, and exercise numbers from the posted draft.Student PTR page with the posted flight entry highlighted
The instructor and student exist, the student’s PPL PTR is active, the dual booking is closed through dispatch, and the posted flight appears in the student’s PTR.
